Occupational therapy

Starting from what matters to you

Getting dressed, writing, cooking, moving around, working, playing: when a difficulty gets in the way of these everyday gestures, we look together for concrete solutions, rooted in your own environment.

Assess

The person's abilities, difficulties and daily habits.

Rehabilitate

Movement, motor skills, attention and organisation, through activity, with the aim of the greatest possible independence in daily life.

Adapt

Assistive equipment, the home, school or the workplace.

Advise

Family, carers and partners — schools, doctors, disability services.

About me

Maud Legrand, Occupational Therapist

A state-qualified occupational therapist since 2023, I have built my experience in neurology, orthopaedics and with children presenting neurodevelopmental conditions — in rehabilitation centres as well as in private practice, with people of all ages.

I opened this practice in Fos-sur-Mer to support each person in developing, recovering or maintaining their independence. Every course of treatment starts from your own needs and daily habits, never from an off-the-shelf protocol.

How it works

What does a course of treatment look like?

  1. First contact

A call or an email to describe the situation and check that therapy is appropriate.

  2. Assessment

Interview, practical situations and age-appropriate tests, followed by a written report.

  3. Shared goals

Concrete goals and a session rhythm, agreed together.

  4. Sessions and review

At the practice or in your own environment, with regular reviews.

Preparing for your first appointment

To help me prepare for our first conversation, please send me:

  • Full name and age
  • Any diagnoses already made
  • Current school, for a child or teenager
  • Whether a disability services application is under way
  • The difficulties encountered day to day

Please also bring any assessments already carried out by other therapists.

Occupational therapy sessions in private practice are generally not reimbursed by the French health service. Other funding routes may nevertheless be available depending on your situation: support from the departmental disability services (MDPH), funding through an early intervention pathway (PCO), or reimbursement by some private health insurers. Do get in touch with these organisations to find out what applies to you.

Yes, a medical referral is required. It can be written by your GP, your paediatrician or the specialist following the person. It sets out the medical context and makes it easier to liaise with the other professionals involved.

The tools are chosen according to age and reason for referral: the BHK for handwriting, the Rey figure and the bells test for visuospatial function and attention, the NEPSY battery in child neuropsychology, the Purdue Pegboard for dexterity, the Jamar dynamometer for grip strength, and the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure to set goals with you. Every assessment leads to a written report that can be shared with the other professionals involved.

The usual rhythm is one 45-minute session per week, or every two weeks depending on need. The overall length depends on the goals set after the assessment: some courses come down to a few sessions of advice and adaptation, others continue over several months with regular reviews.

Yes, whenever it is useful. Observing someone in their real environment — home, classroom, workplace — allows for far more accurate recommendations. Visits cover Fos-sur-Mer and the surrounding area.
